The ClickFriends Mobile App

You can use the ClickFriends app without submitting any data and without creating a profile.  However in order to login and use all the features we do require some personal information.  

What Data We collect (App)

In order to sign up we require your valid email address, unique username and password.  We store the email and username in a database on our server.  We do not store your actual password on our server.  All information is kept confidential.  You can login without verifying your email address however it must be verified by clicking the confirmation link we send you in order to become a paid member.

You can optionally submit your age and gender in the profile.

All images you upload are stored on our server.


When you log in as a user or guest user the app will determine your location.  You will be asked to authorise this in the app.  The location will be precise, as allowed by the location service used on your device.  This location will then be stored on our server and shown to all other users on the map.  The location is updated periodically and also updated on the server.

In App Purchases:

On Android all in app purchases are processed by Google Wallet.

On iOS all payments are processed by Apple IAP.

Subject Access Requests:

We are committed to complying with the applicable data privacy and security requirements in the countries in which we operate. GDPR allows you to make a request to DBS for copies of all personal information held about you. This is known as a Subject Access Request. We aim to provide you with a copy of the information we hold about you within one calendar month of receiving a valid request. To begin this request, please use our contact details below.

Account Termination

If appropriate you can delete your account which you can do at any time without notifying us in the app; in this case all your personal data and images will be deleted from our servers and database.  Click here for more details on account deletion.

Compliance with Laws:

In order to comply with our legal obligations, to enforce our terms of use, to protect the rights of other users of our services/site, to help with criminal investigations we may disclose information that we hold we hold about you to law enforcement agencies and government authorities.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

In order to protect our users and server we use security plugins.  They will obtain your IP address and record it along with the time of access.  We store this data for 1 year.  If any IP is locked out due to malicious activity or request then this IP and data will be added to our blacklist which will be kept indefinitely for the purpose of site security.


When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.


If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

We dont share your personal details sotred on our server (such as your email address) with third parties.  We may only do so if required to do so by law of the land for example in cases to help prevent or deal with crime.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
